Hi all, After two years Iґd installed WBFH again, but I have a problem to connect for play. I can enter to Arena windows, see all players in game, and more, but when i want to play, windows shows this error message: After that, shows other message but I think it isnґt important. Iґd searched this error in forum and I found some threats about, but itґs in russian. Iґm from Spain and use a DSL conection. Before, when I could to play WBFH, I used the same DSL and modem, but Win98 like OS. Please, help me (and other friends with the same problem). CU
if i recall - the catch is in hosts file just open with notepad this file : C:\WINDOWS\HOSTS (yup.. no suffix.. just plain "hosts") and add these lines : 195.208.34.5 wb.chph.ras.ru imagiconline.com 217.23.130.21 wb.chph.ras.ru imagiconline.com 217.23.130.98 wb.chph.ras.ru imagiconline.com and see if it helped i think that actually just 1 ip is enough and that imagiconlie.com is not necessary; i'm not sure... it's some time since ..
something else... hi all, beg your pardon, but it's not the solution to be found at nicaee's! i never got that problem before, and of course i thought of editing the hosts-file. which didn't help... not the .5, nor the other proxies! i had good pings in wb-launcher, except timeout for .5, and saw other pilots in arena-list (with changing numbers, so no cached list). whenever trying to enter by doubleclick, i had the "no resolve"-message. also half of the times "wbd3d.exe" kept running in the background (noticed it later, because it seemed to shutdown ordinary). i have no dialup-connection installed at the moment, so it maybe due to adsl? one thing: also 'tracert' and 'ping'-command gave timeouts for .5 and good connect to other proxies. later on everything was normal again, but meanwhile i had my stick in parts (to screw it up totally). i bring this up only because had varying accessing-troubles with adsl in the last weeks, and i'd like to know, if it is related to dsl in general, maybe. or perhaps the tcp/ip, netbios, pppoe, wan, ppp, pap, qos-rsvp, dns, wins, dhcp, lcp, lsd or stp-service/protocolsettings, which are started by either nt-authority, system, local service or me (current user, administrator, main user and owner-of-all-files on 'my computer')?
1.don't play quake with joystick 2.host location must be C:\WINDOWS\hosts or C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\hosts
Hi all, Thanks a lot to all . It works FINE. Iґd to ADD to hosts file (in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ dir) the list of servers which are indicated by -manoce-. Iґd tried put this file (hosts) in c:\windows\ dir, but FH continued give me the same error message. Iґll see you in the FH skyes ... the reveange come back XDDDD. (and my english too)
That is not completely rigth, If your OOSS is win 98, hosts file must be at <drive>:\windows\ At any other windows (NT, 2000, XP ...) hosts file must be at <drive>:\windows|winnt\system32\drivers\etc The file must be called just 'hosts', with no extension. Edit it with notepad, as any other ascii file.
In fact, Iґd read this before post, Iґd searched too via "search" in forum. Nicaeґs solution wasnґt valid for me: "1. Either copy this file into your hosts folder (Right-click this link, select "save target as.." and remove the ".txt" extension). Your hosts folder is: C:\Windows\ (for Win95, Win98, Win XP) C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\ (for Win2000) " I have XP installed and XP solution doesnґt work (W2000ґs solution works fine). Sorry by post here (I imagine you refer to that) but in the other forums people post in russian. Anyway, sorry. Regards P.D.- I imagine you can move this post to more appropiate site, thanks.
