Well there is actually a joke about this, unfortunately it only makes sense in Polish as it is word-game based.

let's give it a try, we quietly substitute Barack -> barrack (as in military living quarters, in this case just living quarters) as it is pronounced the same in Polish

now the car is named "barako|wóz" which would translate to "barrack|cart" with "|" separating two words

now a "barakowóz" looks like this:

hope it makes some sense ;)

    HAHAHAHA!!!!!!

You have never seen a Zil, have you?

    Hey those cars were just like dinosaurs and for the same reason;
Gas was cheap and so was iron. There were very few pollution and auto construction safety laws.

Americans were told they wanted a living room on wheels with all the comforts of home... and they believed it until they started driving European cars and the Japanese started making some mini versions of American cars with Euro characteristics.

Well, it is turning to shit, thanks to Pres. Wilson and others like him....

However the cars have gotten better- not great but better. That Mustang and the Dodger Charger were a couple of real flying pigs.

As far as GM goes, they do make some nice motors now. The Cadillac V-8 is an all alloy double overhead cam, four valve per cylinder 4.6 liter displacement making 300 HP.
I have owned and driven a few big ticket Euro-rocket cars and I have to admit that thrashing about in that big caddy was impressive.
I had expected a lot worse......
... of course I have far less bullet proofing in mine, but then again I bet the other cadi has a bit more than 300HP:D

I don't think that Zil was as common is SU as f.e. Caprice was in US.
You've never driven a Lada 1200S, have you?

nope, a beast never looks like a beast. the only things who look like beasts are the non beasts, u see. quite confusing for those who fail to distinguish between the two, for those easily fooled or for those who mistake one for the other

btw, i added airfax to my ignore list a long time ago.
    or was that -al--
anyway, i advise all of u do the same

As a matter of fact, yes I have driven the Lada 1200s.

AND the Polish built version too. Actually the Polish version was a better machine. They redesigned the rear suspension and I think the steering system. Although a bit heavier it was an improvement for the roads in Poland of the time. It certainly was an improvement over the Lada!
