rafael, we have the same problems in our country as you have in yours, believe me. Ours may be on a much smaller scale, but they still exist.

Billions are being spent on aid. How much of it actually reaches the people who REALLY need it? People like Hussain bleed their countries dry for their own benefit, in the long run (which is really what matters, short term solutions are no good to anyone!) the money spent on this war will, i hope, be the best money this country has ever spent.

Btw, remember Live Aid, Band Aid, etc, etc? Short term solutions to a long term problem.

That said, my last comment was a cheap shot. Apologies. It's frustrating sometimes when your pissing against the wind. Boroda probably knows how I feel ;)

Oh cummoon! Dont I see the Univ here! Im now sitting in computer room with maybe 60 PCs all with TFT displays, super fast inet, there 5-6 other rooms like this. The library has got as it seems to me all the maths textbooks published in US/Europe (which are hellishly expensive due to stupid copyrights and publishing houses!). every lecture room has an LCD projector (gosh, my 1st tought when I saw one was - THIS COSTS FOUR THOUSAND EURO, I WANT TO FETCH IT HOME!) additional to loads of loads of loads of other techy and money-costing devices!

And yet, this only helps to produce more handicapped mathematicians. What is the point of showing fancy animations to math students (apart from entertaining them)? They cant learn to handle ("imagine" if you like) the notion itself, but only the visual representation. Maths is not geometry!

All you need to study maths is a blackboard, a couple of chalks and a few tables for students to sit and write. My univ hasnt even got money to buy a cleaner for the blackboard, so teachers bring from home.

There is enormous spill out of resources in the UK (and any rich country, I guess) - I cant ever list all the examples Ive seen or rather - felt. At every instance I thought "Only 1/10 of this summ will make such a huge difference in my country"

I`ll cite only one example I felt very badly a few years ago, and I was reminded recently - I was watching on Discovery channel some archeological documentary of digs in London city (while they were doing some subway tube) - they uncovered the grave of some roman girl of notable descent, which even had some golden strings weaved in her dress (!!!) - so with utmost care they restore the whole situation, even make reenacting - engaging lots of different specialists to study on how those strings were made, etc. etc. making 3D-computer models of how the place she lived in looked like, reconstructions how she looked like... All the time commenting that this is the biggest finding of ancient gold in Britain.
This is all OK - theyre doing their job excellently. :rose:
But then I think of my country. How here thracian tombs are sacked daily (we`ve got thousands of them). There is entire mafia undigging treasures, that could be KILOGRAMS of the finest goldwork in the ancient world (you may check on the internet the 7-8 hoards that weve menaged to save in our museums) and smuggling them to private buyers in the West where they disappear for ever; damaging in the process anything that is not "valuable" enough. Archeologists on the other hand are not allowed to uncover more than 1 tomb (!!!) per year, because the budged wouldnt be enough for even basic conservation. Ive seen them actually crying with tears on the TV.

Recently they found the biggest thracian tomb ever - an entire palace sealed after the king`s death - and, you may not believe it but there was argument that instead of uncovered it should be layed with concrete on top until a better times come...

And recently I read a newspaper of the Peak District - they`ve got such and such budget, to undig and display all the roman roads (ie shitty stones, in my city you can walk on them), so far 28% are done...

Sigh, everyone spills whatever he`s got lots of - you have money, we have civilization... I wonder which is better

    End of round 1.

The North-Korea announced that weapon inspections are now obsolite in their view cause what happened in Irak ,doesn't seem to prevent war in any sence.

Now Bush claims that Syria has chemical / weapons of massdestrucion. The target of Bush and Blair is to get Israel back on it's feet.

    Round 2 : SYRIA

    Look at this faggot ...

    Gro,

The problem with Unniversities is a different one.

I was referring to underfunding in primary and secondary schools. In the majority of cases class sizes are between 30-40 pupils per teacher. Unofficial reports estimate that there is a shortfall of nearly 30% teachers so 30% of classes are being taken by agency or relief teachers (you may have heard in the news about the plans to bring in teachers from abroad) there is also plans for classes to be taught by unqualifed assistants (see last weeks news) in an effort to help reduce the shortfall in teaching staff.

Unniversities, another Margaret Thatcher legacy. Margaret Thatcher in the mid eighties reduced considerably the entry level for unniversity places (by doing this more people could goto unniversity rather than signing onto the dole thus allowing the conservatives to say "Look we've reduced unemployment") at the same time they restructered the student loans and gave more funding to unniversities (alot of unniversities were colleges upto 10 years ago). As a result of this the academic level of pupils is reduced and has meant the British education system and quality of grades has been criticised when compared to that of abroad.

Gro, you may be at Unniversity in this country but that dosn't mean you know what goes on. ;)

My son was asked in a grade 5 quizz, "What river is Canada's capitol named after?"
His answer was in a word:
    Ottawa
My son got a big X marked next to his answer, he was wrong, it is "Ottawa River."
I was ready to wham that chicken necked puke's lumpy, shit filled head over that one.
The same idiot told the grade four class Christopher Columbus discovered North America.
Ya get what ya pay for. We don't pay elementary school teachers much...... I offered the Principal my servics as a teaching assistant on my days off and she was aghast explaining she had read ALL of my guest editorials in the local papers I shit apon, which is fine, but I don't recall seeing any of HER opinions in print, anywhere, ever....
Anyway, this is not about me.

Fucking fagot cocksucker intelligentsia not even fit for shark food sons of bitches, they can ALL bite me, I already know what's right (guns) and what's wrong (commies) and it wasn't taught to me by any chicken necked whiney school-marm, no sirree.

    Re: grade x quiz

'Twas (there is that word, 'twas) given me a reason by the fat sleek bitch of a teacher an explanation as to why North America was not "discovered" by Neolithic travelers, seems, if you don't actually KNOW you have discovered a thing, you get no credit for being the first to come around to a mistaken conclusion that you didn't get the gist of, by mistake and accident.

Anyways, the sleek chicken necked bitch wrote me in a little letter of reply to the letter I attached to my kid's homework that Those Neolithic dudes and their mates and kids didn't discover North America for the above reasons.

Well, um, Christoph d'Colom thought he was in India, right?

Some Viking bloke discovered America then later on some dodgy Italian geezer conned the stupid Spanish king into giving him three ships on the premise he would return with fabulous riches. Instead he brought back the potato and some fairytales about a land of riches (as demonstrated by a mouldy old potato) and in return was made Admiral of the Ocean Sea and Governor of the Indies.

Makes you wonder if he was slipping Queenie one dosn't it?

I'm sure we all know that America was named for Seсior Vespuci and I doubt too many would have much against renaming Newfoundland as Refoundland or Vinland, but what about the English and Basques who were fishing the Grand Banks before Columbus? And why wasn't Uranus named for William Herschel?
How long after it's discovery was the first 'yer anus' joke made?

It is so frustrating to see so many children here. Are you 100%sure you know and aware of everything to make any judgement? I am not an US citizen, but all I see is anti-US propaganda, senseless, mindless, without a spot of understanding of political and economical forces of the real life. See many to blame US for economical oppression. When have US laid any sanctions upon Argentina, Brasil, Canada, France, Germany, whatever? Where those countries exposed to anything resembling CoCom, sanctions to Iraq, North Korea, USSR? No, never. So, if someone sucks, he would suck even if US didn't exist on planet Earth. That's a diagnosis! Otherwise, change your life if you are sure you are worth a better one!

Kind advice: whining does nothing to the quality of your life...

Usa's attack to Iraq was planned over 10 years before they started it.That plan also includes attack to Iran after Iraq, and after that assault to Syria. :( :rose:

    Argentina during the Malvina/Falkland war

Brazil , 1970's trade sanctions of high tech products, later for unfair software patent/copyright laws, later for unfair farm subsidies, shoe sales, aircraft and cotton.

France for oil exploration and investments in Iran

    Canada for corn production

Let's see...Germany, well "officially" during World War part one and two...but....

Seem shit to be underethnical and poor within life what-so-ever.

As USA's overmanipulated culture without true care and wisdom towards living entities, no what what they are, have come to a point where 'The Eastern side' people come to realize that there is nothing but BAD among us.

Also the 'Western side' have realized that all the lies , based on our own mis-directionism, have driven us to a point ,where we 'Westerners' , have no other possibility but to just continue our ill-dedicated force to mightly get our stupid dream to come true, within when it comes true , it contains a true disaster for all humankind.

    PS.All ok in U.nited S.hitted A.ssholisim?
