That was at least official WAR.
Today there are no wars at all, just anti-terrorist actions.
After nuclear attack on Japan, war in Korea, Viethnam, russian attack on Afghanistan, israeli terror on middle east, attack on Iraq, again Afghanistan ,
again Iraq, again on poor Palestinians, tomorrow North Korea and Iran...
After all those "peaceful attacks", u should really forget about ww2.
Fascism won , ww2 simply didnt last long enough.
So , my rose goes to Cubans, Palestinians,Koreans,Iranians,Polish,Japanese,
and all those who really suffered in ww2 and after.
For jews ,germans, british, americans, french, i just send 1 big FU.

    - Nukes on Japan: nuke a couple of Japanese cities or kill half a million Allied soldiers + several million Japanese civilians -> no-brainer
    - Korean war: North Korea attacks the south, nearly steamrolls it until the United Nations intervenes -> defensive war ... totally, 100% justified
    - Vietnam: Vietcong + regular North Vietnamese army wage a war of 'liberation' in the south ... U.S. intervention is defensive in nature, although the regime America helps defend is corrupt to the bones ... both sides commit numerous atrocities ... questionable
    - israeli terror against 'poor Palestinians': Arab nations gang up against Israel 3 times and fail every single time ... tough titty ... meanwhile in various massacres and wars, Arabs kill far more Palestinians than Israel ever has ... neither side does much to help things, but given the Arabs' history of stabbing it in the back, Israel's tough stance is at least understandable
    - Iraq: probably the only case from your list where you actually have a point ... pointless war
    - Afghanistan: coalition troops fight islamo-fascist thugs and try to give the country something like a chance at having a future ... what is your gripe here?

    - North Korea + Iran: doubt it, but we'll see ...

War, huh, what is it good for?

    Absolutely nothing

Many birthdays will come and go, its sorta the deal with birthdays. The trick just is not to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. For now, in Europe, I'm pretty happy to see how people live together, mostly choosing debate over violence. But that only came after thousands of years of unrest, war, pillaging and other practices.

In the end, you choose your own happiness.
