    Nah. I have a theory which goes something like this: When you start thinking like the people do who speak a specific language, you will start talking like them. Scary shit, actually. ;) There is still a lot of room for improvement though. Antred imho writes a lot better than me and is prolly more secure spelling-wise. But then again, that was it, he's about the only German I know who can pull that one off. Now, question is if he also can PRONOUNCE it so that when meeting a Brit in an Irish Pub, the Brit will think he's from the US. ;) But other than that, what was said above is unfortunately true: The English of most Germans is horrible indeed. Which kinda supports my theory above...

    There are still plenty of facets to learn though, especially when it comes to other English speaking countries, eh?

    Oh and btw: The Swabian dialect is considered by the rest of Germany competing with the Saxon one for the most horrific German dialect. So your observation it doesn't sound like German at all is no surprise...it doesn't WANT to. ;)

    @Hel: I take that as a compliment. ;)

    I've just had a semi-great idea! Why don't we all record our voices and then post them here. We could just say a few introductory words about ourselves ... or just say something ... ANYTHING. Umm, what do you think? %)
