How about limited RPS for different maps like this: Europe maps= no japan planes, 262 limited from 1944 (1 plane per 10 min). Pacific maps = no GBR or German planes. Short special TOD:s = only 3-5 days, example BOB or "last months in europe".
I like that idea, but I'm not sure if we have enough players to make it work. Unless you want to take down the other arena(s) while the specialized arenas are up.
The other thing is that I'm not sure a Jap-planes-only Gold side could hold its own very well. IMO the Japanese plane set is grossly underrepresented in the game.

I'd call it interesting, spuint. Not fun, flyable or even challenging... but interesting. Imagine this: .roster as "usual" ie 3 reds to 1 gold Trying to takeoff from a field in an A6M, If you EVER come so far as to raise gear after you have liftoff, odds are that you meet an LI2 and get shot full of holes by it's otto. With the time restrict that comes, you'd be forced to take off from another field, where you promtly will be vulched by 4 F4F. When you sit in the useless plane, looking at the 3 fuelfires you have, someone drops a 50kg on the runway Next field: As you try to takeoff, a TBF passing low to bomb fuel lets his otto run havoc on you next field: and so on and so on. Why, oh why, do you ask can this be considered interesting??? -well, you get to see a lot of airfields in the pacific arena. That is quite interesting. Near Field 19 some damn cow stands, and at field 6 there are a few huts (and cows) Since you won't be able to FLY, you'd see these things that you normally miss. umm, yeah, right... Maybe I should have used the word "sarcasm" inside brackets on top of my post?
And why tha fuck no British planes should be avail??? Bad idea, considering who fought in the PTO alongside the Yanks

As far as pacific goes: I don't belive it is possible OR any fun to try and portray the fighting withOUT any armies and very little naval. I don't belive it is possible OR any fun to try and portray the fighting without the Allied air force generals being drunk and the pilots being 6 year old children in the first year at least. The P26 and the B17 should be the only planes at the Fillipines until it has been conquered. How do the admins factor in the follwing?: Starvation Suicide Slave labour US Marines (no joke, these guys were angry) ALL Jap ops to be run without any co-ordination, made to be complicated and the planners must be drunk. Sure, all the above makes for some lucky history For North Americans... How to simulate the burning of Japans cities? The destructuion of it's industry. The sinking of it's entire merchant fleet? Why would ANYONE want to be stuck playin as a Jap?
That way one can ensure that no one can say the he/she is flying only uber planes. Besides, MA needs targets too, it would be boring if no one gets killed every once and awhile.... (boy, that "karma-" guy is really stupid....)
Hell, I only wait for early war so I can fly the chaika. Maybe a short tod in Manchuria would be interesting???
