I made a big mistake yesterday: I went to this Narnia-film with some friends.

The good news: At the beginning of the film there are Heinkel He-111, making a strange bombing run (extreme close formation, low altitude and flying some maneuvers to evade the ack :) ).

Nevertheless the He111 is a fine plane and I like to see it in cinema - no matters how bad the rest of the film is ( I had the same effect during this new Pearl Harbor film).

The rest of this Narnia film was extremely boring - so be warned. Whoever tolf that this film has the same quality like Lord of the rings must have been in another film than the one I have seen yesterday.

    But did I mentioned the cool He-111 ? ;)

Yes, i went to see it too, and i left with the same impression. I guess it's too children-oriented, something like Harry Potter or, indeed, any Disney film.

But He-111s were cool (though i didn't recognize them, my bro told me that :shuffle: )

I disagree. Narnia is one of the best aviation movie I've ever seen, especially if it comes to the bombers. Memphis Belle was crap when compared to Narnia. I almost came back to flying on WBFH after this film.

I did read the book. Or one of the books. The lion, the witch and the wardrobe.
I won't go see the movie anytime soon.
[I never do - and I ain't mssin much, really, no, really]
Generally, it takes me about ten years before I see 'the movie. based on the book.'

Maybe you have a cool translation of the film in Spain.

In german it was boring. The characters were boring, their costumes looked like cheap replicas made of plastic. Its hard to believe that the same group made the costumes/animations of Lord of the Rings.

But I liked the Heinkel 111 at the beginning of the film. Iwill try to get the film, save this scenes with the He-111 and cut off the rest with Virtualdub.

Well , the Narnia books are oriented towards a younger audience, IMO.

I read them when I was maybe 8-11 yrs old, liked them then.
Now I dont think I would like the books so much, except maybe the one with the horsie and the dude.

I read Tolkien at the same age, but have returned to Tolkien, because those books have a more "lasting" quality. Except maybe that there are too many people ;)

there is this trend lately the fuckin commercial movies vulture on all the nice books. it is a sure cash.
poor children of the future. their parents already buy them DVDs instead of reading books at the bedside.

Welcome to the civilization of ultra-consumers.

Have you seen any good movies lately?

I've been following mainly asian stuff, but this year seems to be really bad. Nothing good so far.

I've seen some good older ones lately tho.

Guizi lai le, awesome film depicting jap occupation in china during ww2. (director got banned by chinese govt. from making any further films)
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245929/

Mang jing, about some chinese mine workers (same as above, for more obivious reasons)
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0351299/

    Fallen Angels. cool!
