new forum of RC models on FH forum. If you are a modellist and wish to share your aquitances or post the pix of your models you'r welcome, in the other hand, if you are new and would get more info or have some help for construct a new model, just ask Have Fun!
Hmm this cool to fly around? "" Designed after the full-size at Duxford, at 25% scale. Powered by a 3W 120 inline engine. I have flown it at most UK large scale show's. It handles like the thoroughbred that it is. Weight 50 lbs., wingspan 10 ft. Prop size 28"X 12". I build all my models from drawing directly on the work-bench so no plan drawing sheets are ever made. Mainwing and tailplane are sheeted foam with large filled box-spars. The Fuz. is all-wood construction. Finish is Solartex over balsa sheeting. Painted using "Auto" cellulose paint. I employ twin receivers on all my models, dramatically reducing the possibility of losing control due to radio/battery failure.""
Those models are great to pilot, the realism is exeptionell! but they are the last step for a modellist, the engine power (usually not below 120ccm) and the weight (above 20kg) need good aquitances for construction. Materials as wood, ABS and Pvc as glues and reinforcements (carbon or titanium) must be used as well. Let's say, it's more fun to construct them than to fly them, fly such monster it's allways a bit stressfull, you never know if you will land ang get it to home again Btw i already did a P51D in 1:5 scale (260cm wing) and now i'm going to building a Fokker Dr1 scale 1:3 (quite a monster ) but fist i must finish my MistralII a glider of 450cm wing.
450cm wingspan ??? Do you have a full size hangar to build such monsters or what ? Or maybe you built your own, 1:5 size
I have my hobby room of 4 x 3 meters, it's quite enought since I modify any model with a wingspan above 200cm (i can't take longer in my car ) and i cut the wing in 2, 3 or 4 parts. Usually the big scales (even if big) aren't really good, leak of details and fals proportions and since any modellist has a good supply of materials i prefer do my projects by myself with the help of Autocad. If they are complex like a Dr1 (lot of pieces) i give my Cad file to a friend who has a plotter and he cut me all the parts. I will post some pix of the mistrallII and of the Dr1 on the RC forum section
