HEY, MAC, YOU READING-UP ON THIS ? http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v483/n7388/full/nature10842.html
oh yeah. it's interesting stuff. body language between apes and humans is very similar. A monkey wants to be the leader of a clan. He will pick up a big stick, walk up to the main dominant monkey and smash the stick down on the ground in front of him. This is his way of saying "I should be the boss of these monkies, not you" One of two things will hsppen. The dominant monkey will walk away, signifying he is no longer the dominany monkey, OR there will be a fight, the winner is the dominany monkey. People are the same way. A judge will make a statement, then bang his hammer on his desk, making a loud bang sound. He is saying "I am the dominant one here, this is the fucking way it is" Anyone who tries to challenge him will be met with physical force by way of police or security. check out any street cop, or riot squads. they bang their sticks against their shields. pipe band leaders carry a big stick, when they want the band to stop playing, they will strike it on the ground. http://videos.howstuffworks.com/animal-planet/27871-almost-human-male-dominance-in-chimps-video.htm
Yeah, just like the first part of the film: 2001. Like Roman soldier banging their swords on the shields, Zulus banging their spears against their shields, even orchestra members banging their bows against their violins and cellos... salute or challenge.. However: monkies grab a stick, gorillas pound their chests... gorilla out cocks the monkey....
