80 years old and flying at low alt around in circles at several hundred miles per hour???????? "I love the USA, the country where you're never too old to fly"
Yes, I saw that too. trimmer gone and maybe some smoke or liquid coming out from radiator air outlet? According to one report the plane came out of a turn and went straight vertical then nosed-over and went inverted, then augered into the ground. Some say it seemed there was a massive mechanical failure with some motions made to avoid crashing into the stands. Others said that it seemed there was not pilot control at all. Strange thing was in a photo of the plane going nose down there is no pilot visible. very bad if it was some seat belt failure.... I remember that the spectators were to be 1,500 feet from the path of the planes course. Almost a kilometer from the line of travel. I guess if that is true now, a 500+mph it's not enough anymore. Especially coming out of the turns.
Actually he is 74 and it is a triangular pattern, not circle. still you post is kind of "not cool", Mac. You know he had to have passed the physical in order to fly that event. Notice the lack of fire too? Those planes have to meet one hell of a tech inspection and have considerable safety equipment. But even in F-1, Nascar, Indy, etc something always can go wrong...
okay guys I read somewhere on the net that he was 80, and that he "lost control" of his plane. I got quite pissed that a man that age was flying a p51 at low alt in an air race. Now it turns out that he was 74, and that it was a mechanical problem too, well that's a little different. my old man is 75 and he had to take a special test to get his driver's license renewed. That whole age thing is on my mind that's all.
How does the country that he was flying in have anything to do with it? Could never happen anyplace else, eh?
76 year old man flying in a fighter plane. Where was he? Why was he flying? He was certified in that airframe and he was allowed to pilot it. Who certified him? Russians? Spanish? No, USA. That said, few crashes are not caused by pilot error. Those that are not caused by pilot error are machine failer. The machine and the pilot are intrinsic are not The Be All And End All in the single point of failer caused crash. There is also those who certify old men to fly acrobatics at low altitude over crowds at high sub-mach speeds. Old airfram, old man, and too much confidence in the certifiers' judgment. You have to be thinking one minute into the future when piloting aircraft.... and one second also. Very demanding responsibility [see Terrible Automobile Drivers - who are commonplace - and certified by Paid Smarties] and the faster you go, the less wriggle room.
LOL cut back on the calcium Hez pls. paid smarties LOOol fuck I am quality driving instructor for car. Boolah my brother is quality plane instructor. we 2 for 1, like pizza.
Really? With all the anti-American rhetoric diarrhea he spews you think THAT'S why he mentioned it? And here I thought you were some sort of genius.
