Where I live there is NO SMOKING in ANY public buildings, period. Can't even have a smoke in a PRIVATE CLUB.
Right now, as I write this, there are some fuckwads in the Legislature debating a bill which, if it were law, would prohibit the smoking of tobacco within 50 meters of any public building. A public building is any building that has an entrance that is accessable to The Public.
What that would mean is that smoking would be effectively ILLEGAL in town, any town. Most towns are only even called towns, because there are buildings...
Now, the same government that is going to try and shove that criminal legislation down our throats have allowed Beer Halls and Booze Cans to remain open until 0400 hrs, which is 2.5 hrs after ALL the public transit stops for the night.
    Hmmmm.
And too, the same government is willing to put a fuckin GAMBLING CASINO into my nieghbourhood, saying it "will bring jobs."
    FUCK!

I don't see a lot of difference between a casino and a crack house. I think casinos are evil, but there is one popping up every second day in my province of british Columbia. And you know what the excuse is given when some people will scream:
GAMBLING IS IMMORAL AND UNHEALTHY AND IS JUST PLAIN WRONG!
Well, casinos provide employment and help raise funds for chairty [my ass, this is a Stupid People's Tax, it is about raising money so Joe The Cabinet Minister can cause there to be built ferry boats that go 90 kph [about 55 mph], cause waves so big they tear up the tidal shore, make more noise than a 747, cost 50 million dollars and are NEVER USED TO CARRY A SINGLE PASSENGER, are stuck in a drydock and then sold for 2 million FOR BOTH OF THEM - TheMinister Of Transportation was smoking some BAD CRACK or whatever he got from his connection.]
    Easy come easy go.
Oh, and the fucking Federal GOVERNMENT grows pot. About 10,000 tonnes per year
Yep. That is 22 million pounds. Actually, the 'award' contracts for 'agribusiness' to 'explore the economic potential" of the stuff. Economic potential? My grampa says pot was illegalized in the thirties becuase the Logging Companies had found that you can make pAper from wood but that it wouldn't be economically viable AS LONG AS PEOPLE WERE GROWING HEMP ON FARMS FOR THE MAKING OF CHEAP PAPER.

I will goto jail if I am caught growing 1 single pot plant.
    AAAARRRGGGHHHH
It is only economically viable when Big Gangsters take Grave Risks?
Follow The Money. Who are The Real Criminals????

All you are to your government is 'one in every crowd.'
These same people who will take advantage of their public don't GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU and they don't do this shit FOR you, they do it FOR THEMSELVES. It is about money and power and
    FUCK THE WEAK.

So why is crack illegal in the same town that has seven casinos? Is crack illegal "because it is bad for you?" No, it is illegal becuase the government hasn't found a way of cornering the market on it.
    Yet.

Red, you are quoting my quotation of glucose's!

Those are his words, not mine!

    I am NOT a smoker.

Well..... firstly prohibition in the USA was pushed for by those religious fanatics; so called "Christians". We have our American Jihad'ers. The same people who also tried making abortion illegal.

Anyway during those dark days of the 1920's even with the Volstead Act, the law passed as the Prohibition Act, allowed wine making for personal use!

Yes, there have always been power plays by certain groups as to control or tax the masses:
Number one on the list are those religious orders who decide for the people instead of teaching and let the people, individual decide for themselves.

Control something that the masses want or need and you've got real power:
Control sex, Control tea, control sales transaction, control travel.

The British used opium to control the Chinese, and with the Japanese invasion of China, the Japs also promoted opium dens and made a killing in the drug trade.

The trick is not to get hooked in the first place.

How many smokers hate smoking? Funny thing about that huh?

Smoking has chemicals that are proven to be addictive. In fact cigarette makers add more of these chemicals to make them more addictive.

If memory serves there are 160 chemicals found in cigarettes that are proven to be carcinogenic- cancer causing.

If you can count all the second hand smoking deaths in the last 50 years the far exceed any cell phone driving related deaths for certain and I'll bet they exceed all drunk driving related deaths as well.

Best to go to the American Cancer Society, American Heart and Lung Associations and see what evidence they have as well as the US Surgen General's reports.

I do agree with that 50 years thingie. Though it gives a bit too much headstart to second hand smoking....(1960's cell phone might've been a quite large, hmm?)

To exceed drunk driving accidents, no way. I think you're just putting on too much weight to smoking. Not all cancers are smoking related. Cancer might even
    be genetic you know...
