The old "Cannot resolve IP address of arena: wb.cgph.ras.ru" problem returned last night........so I quickly copied my standby 'hosts' (without ext or quotes) file across to my C:\window dir....rebooted.....no change..oh...ok...downloaded hosts from the web.....blah..blah...blah...24 hrs later with clean install of XP and WBs...still no joy

Second computer in same house is the same...although they once worked

I can ping the IP address with the CMD function
I cannot ping the named sever

Although a friend in Bristol can do both
My ISP is Tiscali....he is on a different one

Any help welcome....or sympathy :help:  :(

I sometimes get this weird thing happening...

When I watch a track, and then try to go online, the game crashes me back to the desktop. Then I need to restart for it to go online without crashing...

    :dunno:

After watching the track you got to kill running task "warbirds.exe" using task manager for instance.
There is a bug in track viewer, its not turning off the task "warbirds.exe" , you got to kill it by your own, couse you just can't run more then one task named "warbirds.exe"

P.S.: when you use warbirds in 3D mode its possible not "warbirds.exe" but "wbd3d.exe"

Ok....mine started to have this problem last night.

After reinstalling both WB and FHL, I found the problem. First I couldn't get into either arena ( had nothing in hosts file), then couldn't get into test arena.

It is actually a problem with the IP routing. The hosts file has the IP addresses routed to wb.chph.ras.ru, but FHL is looking for war.chph.ras.ru for test arena.

If you are having this problem, check what the "cannot resolve IP...." message says. If it mentions war.chph.ras.ru, then add to the following to fix your problem.

    195.208.34.5 war.chph.ras.ru
    24.126.253.107 war.chph.ras.ru
    217.23.130.98 war.chph.ras.ru
    217.23.130.21 war.chph.ras.ru

    Regards, Oz
