IEN has released final update to wbmedrl2 arena. Possibility of implementation? Read About it: The New Med (wbmedrl2) has had it's final touch-ups. It is now in the final release version and will be put into the pay arenas on 02Oct00 with the TOD rollover. The newest version is on the web site under the HomeTown news section. You will need it if you want to play in the MA or WW2A come monday. This is a new version, so even if you had a previous version you still need to download this one. If you don't, you'll get all kinds of errors when you log in. ------------------ ICEMAN iEN Community Events Manager The new Mediterranean Terrain has been deployed into paid production. The new Mediterranean Terrain arena is a $1.99 per hour arena. What s new in the Mediterranean Terrain for Windows & the Mac? Expanded terrain with an area of appoximately 200 square miles. 40 fields including 3 Large Fields, 2 New Guinea-style Medium Fields (with twin parallel runways), 3 Small Fields and 2 Grass Fields per quadrant. Spawning point for all fields (except grass fields) has been moved from runway to hangar area. 4 CVs with expanded paths. CVs now travel through all water including the Black Sea area. The following new "targets": Medium fields have parked B25s. Small fields have parked P40s. Each quadrant has a large field in the corner with an attached New Guinea terrain-style City. The large buildings in these Cities must be destroyed to capture the attached base. The small buildings are Strategic Targets. Each quadrant has a Medium field with an attached "Factory complex" (Strategic target). The 2 Northern quadrants have Medium fields with attached "Refinery complex" (Strategic target). The 2 Southern quadrants have Medium fields with attached "Anchored Convoys" (Strategic target). 10 Fields have bridges associated with them (11 bridges total). Each bridge is made of 4 spans. The 2 center spans must be destroyed to allow capture of the associated field. The outer 2 spans are strategic targets. More AAA. Each Strategic target is protected by large caliber AA emplacements. Enhanced field placement. Fields are surrounded by hills, inside mountain terrain (even on top of mountains) and nestled in valleys. Rivers and valleys (gorges) have been added. More ground clutter added and 2D colors refined. New "Sand" texture added for 3D desert areas. Installing the Windows Update In order to play in the New Mediterranean Terrain arena, you must download and install the installer package for the terrain. 1.Click to download the terrain installer file wbmedrl2.exe, (3,153kb, 9/26/00). The Save as dialog box is displayed. Save the file onto your computer. 2.Locate wbmedrl2.exe on your computer, and then double-click on it to begin the installation process. 3.Follow the instructions on the screen. Installing the Mac Update In order to play in the New Mediterranean Terrain arena, you must download and install the installer packages for the terrain. 1.Click to download the terrain file wbmedrl2.bin (3,014kb, 9/26/00). 2.Double-click on the downloaded file. It uncompresses into the wbmedrl2.trn. 3.Drag the file wbmedrl2.trn into your main WarBirds folder.
