What were the Russians doing in Afghanistan in 1979? What were the Russians doing in Hungary in 1956? What were the Russians doing in Czechoslovakia in 1968? Answer: They were looking for the people who invited them.
I'm too familiar with the media, and perhaps my shock derives from knowing that there are those outside of the ultra-nationalistic clueless-clan, that would find all the media says as being creditable during an actual event. OTOH once all the smoke settles it will be interesting to hear/read the initial propaganda of the victor and compare it to later studies of the event from different sources.
Oops too late Basically some chick (from USA) wanted to know where the russians are, cause she heard on the news that they sent their tanks & troops to Gerorgia but she can't see or hear them. And wanted to know if she'll be safe
I'm not a fan of all these stupid secessionist movements that have been springing up like mushrooms during the last couple of decades, but we got to be consistent here. Either we ARE for the right of people to govern themselves (and then we have to support the Ossetian move toward independence) or we are NOT (and then we have to revoke any and all declarations of recognition of the new state of Kosovo). On the other hand, the Russians should not overplay their card and go all out against Georgia either. Unlike Iraq and Afghanistan, this one really does have the potential to get a bit uglier than anyone had planned for.
this has nothing to do with you living in that bad country from europia? you know, the one that neighbours with mine and they love each other so so much?
