339th FS received P38G in late summer of '42.

December 27, 1942, a mix of P-38F and G attacked Japanese planes at Dobodura, New Guinea.

P38G were in Med. Theater as early as June '43.

    i'm sorry, i had a typo

    P-38H appeared 1943-09, not P-38G. i hinted about engine.
    P-38G had v-1710-51,-55.

indeed 54FG got 38H in 1943-09 but... first escort performed 1943-10-15

P-38G according to my search actioned like that:
1943-04-09 crashed while testing dive flaps in USA
    1943-04-18 38G with 38F killed Yamamoto.

so, it looks like dates should be:
    1942-08 P-38F used
    1943-04 P-38G used
    1943-09 P-38H delivered
    1943-10 P-38H used
    1943-12 P-38J delivered
    1943/1944-?? P-38J used
    1944-?? P-38J-25-LO delivered
    1944-?? P-38J-25-LO used
    1944-06 P-38L manufactured
    1944-?? P-38L delivered
    1944-?? P-38L used

L dates are mystery. usually sources refer to P-38J/L version :D

Well if that's what you decide, fine.

However there were P38G's used on Dec.27th 1942 in New Guinea.
Production/delivery of G model was around June 1942.

Production and delivery of those variants.
Would be nice to see the ones with the obvious improvement differences get the opportunity for appropriate application in the RPS.

    P-38.............Production......
    Variant.....Svc. Del.....Built
    P-38F.........Mar-42........638
    P-38G.........Jul-42........1,082
    P-38H.........Apr-43........601
    P-38J..........Sep-43.......2,970
    P-38L..........Jun-44.......3,923

Personally, I would like to see the G added to the RPS since it has a MUCH bigger improvement over the F production.

See this link for P-38G statistics.

See this page link below for some good statistical testing. It's part way down the page Titled:

TACTICAL SUITABILITY OF THE P-38G TYPE AIRPLANE
    AS COMPARED TO THE P-38F
    3 May 1943

    that's not decision.
i just told history afaik: http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_fighters/p38.html

in rps we use "first action" or at least "combat ready unit", not "first rolled out from factory"

    btw, p-38g instead of what?

can you list first actions of:
    p-38f
    p-38g
    p-38h
    p-38j-1-lo
    p-38j-25-lo
    p-38l
    ?

So, you're saying you guys won't use the delivery date as a reference to release a variant?

    P-38G ....instead? I don't understand.

What do you mean by first actions of those aircraft?

From a book I have The P-38G replaced the F varient in production in the month of June 1942, so I bet Looseleafs December of 1942 would be correct for use in a a unit. I do know the G model was the varient that knocked Yamamotos Transport out of the sky in April of 1943.

    Just my two cents :)

    in most cases we won't.
    example:
    yak-1 delivered 1940-11 used 1941-07
    lagg-3 delivered 1941-01 used 1941-07
    la-5 delivered 1942-08 used 1942-10
    spitfire 9c delivered 1942-06 used 1942-08
    spitfire 14e delivered 1944-01 used 1944-late summer
ki-84-1 delivered 1943-10 used 1944-08 (hmm, found error. in rps 1944-04 - first prod)
    n1k1-j delivered 1944-05 used 1944-08
    n1k2-j delivered 1944-10 used 1945-02
    j2m3 delivered 1944-02 used 1944-09
    p-47c-2 delivered 1943-01 used 1943-07
    f6f-3 delivered 1943-01 used 1943-08
    typhoon delivered 1941-09 used 1942-08
    etc

    exceptions are:
country not in war, therefore we use combat readiness, such as p-39d in 1941-09 and mig-3 in 1941-05.
japan is behind, therefore we use the earlier delivery in some cases
    and some other balance tweaks.

which p-38 model line do you propose?

    1942-07-30 spitfire 9c from RAF-64 killed 3 fw 190 over french coast.
    therefore rps date is 1942-08

    typhoon... damn, 1941-11 RAF-609 killed 4 fw 190.
but in 1941-11 tiffie probably would be an überplane... :dunno:
    i set 1942-08 because of RAF-486 afair.

j2m3 1944-09 in battle of mariannas

    1943-08-01 f6f-3 from vf-9 (essex+yorktown) strike marcus is.

dropping engineers to change reup times is bs. It's like attach command. ruins game.

b17 and b24 weaker than zeke. 2x 20mm causes fuel fire or destroys major compenent ie wing 90% of time. bs.

Well, that's akin to saying "b17 and b24 weaker than M1A2". Doh! Of course they are! Zeke is one of the most durable planes in the game! %)

Please explain your position in detail. I fail to see the disadvantage caused by being able to make a field you have just captured operational quicker. All you have to do is adjust your mission timing for it. If anything, I believe the reason you are having difficulty with reclosing is owed to someone in a fighter believing they can close the field with a single 500 # bomb. Perhaps you are that person. If you are the player who thinks they can reclose a field with a single 500# bomb given the engineers decreasing the reup times and making them more uniform as well, then you, sir, are a sad bastard. If anything, you should probably up a larger bomber and attack a field on the other side of the map. :ass:

How can you bomb the pakis and their pizza parlors if you cannot cope with their ability to rebuild quickly? :shuffle:

    -exec-, just a question:
Did N1K suffer any change on FM? Was the Autopilot issue corrected?

Bringing in planes on first delivery date could very well net superior planes from the opposing side causing the suggestion to work counter to one's intentions in mentioning it.

    Yup, that could definitely back-fire.

Also it just doesn't make sense.

The date the first one rolls-out of the factory doesn't account for delivery, assembly and training!

As I remember reading in some cases the planes sat there for weeks and months due to some missing parts, instructions, spares, personnel to assemble/maintain the new aircraft.

So, you're only using data provided from famous missions, rather than when they were actually delivered and put into use. In all fairness, that does not make much sense to me. And like I've said before, my opinion is that war was not fair or balanced so, I don't see why it has to be fair here. The aircraft are what they are.

As for what I would propose, I would propose to add the P-38G to the list. That would be to fill in the large time gap between the 38F and 38J. The 38F is poorly modeled which makes it difficult to combat other opposing aircraft not encountered during WWII which are modeled nearly uber as it is due to programming and release date "fairness balance". Seeing all those 109's, 190's, 110's, Spitfire's, Ki's and La's and determining how useful they are, and their production/release dates.....makes me think adding the P-38G would be a good thing.

    1) re-check rps, pls
    that's related to all folks

i set dates for first combat or loss as i could find it. in squad quantities (or else we can add single i-185, because four of them used in actual battles).

    2) alw, pls ask a direct question: "what entire model line of lightnings do you propose?"
