I have to disagree with almost everything said in here about ottos being shitty .
Gil started to work on otto settings long time ago , not because buffs couldnt defend themselves, but because otto was so lethal.
I dont understand why someone is expecting for otto to be like in Pe2, to be pure robotic?
Personally, I dont like idea of some people , who would like to be able to fly 1 buff, close many fields, then jump into Li2 and cap them all. If you fly buff, chances are , you are going to be shot dwn. Expect that or dont fly buffs at all.
Make group of 3-4 buffs then close field, or dont even start mission.
I dont think any buff was able in ww2 to simply come to enemy field, make 3-4 passes then turn away and go home.

 

Tracks? Ha. One of the reasons I don't play very much. I cannot play the track recording. I don't want to start another one man, nobody cares a fuck, effort so I can watch tracks that nobody cares about, even me. Wow, one of the reasons I left was the insane ability of the ottos to hit with lazor guided accuracy, so was this fixed? i still killed many a buff, but I found that the buff pilots would just slow down and turn or jink so the otto could get that 100% hit on me as I closed in for a good burst, and many times even from a high speed dive from a tough angle the otto's would zing the crap out of me. That was just wrong I mean game play is a factor as well as realism, but No way in hell could a gunner with his planes twisting and turning and jinking could he ever get a prolonged burst onto a fighter. Buff's stayed straight for the bombadair to lock on, the Buff pilots were very vulnerable and they should here also. The best way for a Buff pilot to fly and do his mission and land is to have an escort, even just a single fighter can deter long enough to do real damage to a field or even close it. Maybe I'll reinstall every thing and give the game a go this coming week end but I'm not sure I really want to. Something always drives me nuts in this game and I realise it takes time to fix things but, ah maybe I'll give it a go this week end and see for myself.

 

I have to say I agree that the previous settings were fine. For those who would get killed badly getting too close to a bomber didn't do much planning on the attack previously, and deserved to die for that mistake. I'm guilty of that myself.

Well, one solution I just thought of once I got to your comment. How about we have ottos that can shoot like before BUT, the bullets being used don't cause as much damage. If ottos can be told where to shoot, I would say have ottos shoot at just the wings. That way, your aircraft will be destroyed/disabled but, you're not being PK'd on a couple pings.

The only good the settings that are currently in use for ottos is for score whores to rack up points. These settings are ruining the game for people that want to come in and fly and JUST HAVE FUN!!!
