FreeHost International Convention 2003

This idea was in the air for the last 2 years.

We need an international meeting, con, assembly or whatever ou call it.

This time it's not only idea, but a real plan.

Date: early August, 2003. Place: Samara, Russian Federation.

Samara is a beautiful city on Volga, only one night by train (1000km) from Moscow. Beautiful Volga sights, Zhiguli mountains, best beer East from Czech Republic.
Accomodation: a small boarding school 10 minutes from railway station, in a park. Programm: talking, flying, having fun, barbecue (shashlyk), visiting Volga beaches to swim and fish, maybe a little concert (they have a 500W apparatus there and a small "concert hall"), flying together on a LAN arena or on a special arena at FreeHost.

The exact date is TBD, but it will last for 3 days (Friday, Saturday,
Sunday). Later we want to go camping to the Zhiguli mountains - for those who want to see real Volga nature.

For foreigners - I think we can accomodate some people who'll come to Moscow 1-2 nights before going to Samara without any problems. Some "cultural program" in Moscow, including WWII museums.

For Eastern Europeans a trip to Moscow should not be too expensive, especially by train or bus.

Prices in roubles, $1=32roubles :

Moscow: beer - 10-20rr, cigarettes - 10-30rr, meal in a cafe - 100-150rr, vodka - 60-100rr per 0.5l

Train from Moscow to Samara and back: 1800rr.

In Samara: beer - 13rr for a litre, a meal in a canteen - 30rr, etc.

I think that we'll collect no more then $50 per nose, to have everything we need for 3 days. For $50 in Samara you can have almost everything you will think about.

People from all over Russia and CIS (Commonwealth) are going to come. We hope to see our foreign friends, and are sure noone will regret coming to our Con. I don't tink that a Russian visa is a problem anywhere.

sounds nice, but i would have to hit the lottery to go anywhere. but my thoughts will be with you guys. so someone please drink some lambrusco for me i will raise my glass to you on that night and raise itto the moon/sun. a great idea

i looked it up, a cheap flight return from toronto to moscow is 1900,- CAN $. this offer is in summer 2003.

 

1900$ is ALOT of cash, I make 300$ a month, LOL, I'll be saving untill 2010 LOL

If i could afford it, I'd go, Who knows ?

 

AFVS have a mini-meeting in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in a month time..... Glas, Achtung and Malino are coming here. Anyone else interested????
