    Brazil has an Airforce?

    C'mon- 10 30-yr old Mirages and 45 F5E's isn't a strike force...

Even our underarmed AF would have no big difficulties in matching that if met...

45 F-5BR with 4th gen avionics and radar... This is by itself all that we need to deal with, for one, ancient polish airforce, sum there the 3 AWACS and 2 ELINT (JSTARSS-LIKE) ERJ-145 and AMX bombers, ALX anti-helicopter/anti-tank/coin aircraft... Did you ever saw a fiber optics guided missile ?

Brazil GDP is the same as Russia, if russia can have a big airforce, why we cannot ? Historical prejudice ?

The truth is that we never had the need to have a big airforce, who would want to wake-up the big sleeping bully ?

How would the Polish Airforce deliver its weapons to Brasil? Swimming Migs? :D

@Uncle: demolition of Chinese embassy wasn't a mistake, IMO, but a faint whisper into China ears to stop supporting Serbia. It worked. :)

Brazil have quite nice military industry, Polish military manufacturers often cooperated with for example Embraer (it's not only civil manufacturer :) )

Compared to other S. America countries it is quite big punch imho :)

Then why don't you start paying off all your debt, start some more schools, orphanages, curb your violence, graft, corruption and start doing something REAL about your AIDS epidemic....?????

The reason no one is going to invade Brazil is because no one wants to. Besides it would be far easier just to buy it..... just like what is happening:
    New World Order....

YAWN...... there is more fear of getting aids from Brazilians than fear of their "military power".....

COME ON ! All this talk of "fear" and "we have a great big Army".......is just plain bullshit!

Just what the Military Industrial Complex wants everyone to say.....

All our debt ? Last time i checked it was the other way around, Poland, Russia and Ukraine have almost 20 billion combined defict with Brazil :p

Russia alone loses 100 million dollars/year in the trade balance due to Brazil, this has already surpassed the 10 billion acumulated total...

Our debts (Due to the 1973 petroleum crisis) are small (120 Billion dollars, waaaaay less than the percentual current USA debt...).

    How does this work?

I guess some poor S.O.B. foot soldier has to sneak into enemy territory with a roll of optical fiber over his shoulder, attach it and the optical trasmitter to the target then get his a$$ out of there before the big bad missile at the other end of the fibre gets him.

    regards, Oz

    Already answered...

It´s never bad to have more schools and less violence, but, current Brazillian violence level is far less than USA standard, and the percentual ammount of children on school met the UNESCO goals... The corruption is more a cultural thing than a economical one, and so needs a lot of time to be solved...

AIDS epidemic ?!?! WTF are you reading ? Current brazillian AIDS levels are percentually bellow (VERY BELOW) USA level... Are you watching too much Fox News ?

By the way, at least our country gives FREE AIDS therapy (including medications, up to date, all the fancy medical stuff [almost 100k dollars per infected yearly]) to all infected... And the "generic medication" laws.. THIS is something being done, more than most (if not all) other countries do...

Yeah... No one wants to have some of the largest Uranium ore mines, Iron ore mines, Tantalum, Osmium, Cobalt, Niquel, Niobium (Necessary for very advanced things like supercondutors and heat resistent monocrystaline engines - those that powers the eurofighter and F-22), etc... As the biggest biodiversity in the world (Amazon forest), The biggest (by far... 80% of naturally ocurring drinkable water...) ammount of water, Self-sufficient petroleum sources, big fishing areas in the atlantic, the largest bovine and chicken agrobusiness, the largest suggar and coffe production in the world (And its necesssary light transformation industries - where do you think that your meal comes from ? Your industrialized suggar ? Coffe ? Any hint ? Most of the world´s metalic home stuff ? Did you ever heard of "Tramontina" ?), the largest percentual arable land (Land to people ratio) in the world... Really, no one really wants to invade Brazil... Such a crazy idea never happened before to anyone...Like Paraguay getting its ass handed back to La Paz...

Yeah, like USA having its ports being bought by third world monarchies... LMAO. It works both ways (Embraer recently bought some european aircraft industries, like the Portugal state aircraft company...). By far, Brazil is in a leage above Poland and the rest of the former comunist republics...

Even Russia happens to have a similar GDP.

AVIBRAS at Army-Technology (And AVIBRAS is a trade/development partner of Rosoborono-something-export of Russia... AVIBRAS is currently developing a next generation ASTROS III missile/rocket launcher for Russia [it will be called something else] and Brazil... 120km range with rockets, 300km range with stealth light cruise missile [500kg range] more advanced than USA´s ATACS current standard, besides outranging both MLRS and Smerch and outweighting both too [it will guide with GPS, GLONASS and the future joint China/Brazil military sats]).

    FOG-MPM

FOG-MPM is a extrapolation of (steel) wire guided missiles, in place of a analog wire link theres a fiber optic + steel wire (to protect the fiber optic) link, allowing it to have a Imaging/IR/SAR camera in the nose wich allows a remote "pilot" to attack slow flying aircraft, landing craft, tanks, artillery positions, choppers, etc at a 60km range (it can top kill a tank easly, even if it moves - as the pilot is actually seeing the target and can correct the missile trajectory). This ensures that the receiving end will not even know what hit them... It can be launched by navy vessels, small man portable launchers + modified (militarized) laptop computer, helicopter, armored units modified to this end... Even ASTROS II can have a FOG-MPM battery attached to protect it against enemy helicopters (And due to the guidance principle being impossible to jam and having a "pilot", the usual terrain masking tatics fails against this missile).

An mechanized infantary platoon (modified Urutu or M113 APC´s) having 4 launchers being able to guide 2 missiles each can neutralize a M1 Abrams platoon easily... "JSTARSS" ERJ-145 version giving the battery up-to-date info about the targets allows it to punch things 60km away from the launch site... Even post-attack damage assestment is easy as you can use the own missile camera to see the area (Zoom-out) and reconize the effects of an earlier attack...
