Yes, and so are you. I don't think Canadians exactly speak the Queen's English. :)

Yeah, but we don't call our nation America. We call it Canada. My point was that the USA is not America, it is part of America and somehow due to their great power we all have to avoid calling ourselves Americans now. From Tearra to Tuctoyuctuc. BTW, anyone in Canada who writes is taught Queen's English, not "American" English. The US publishing influence is heavy up here and many of our children are getting educated on the TV...... BUT, Canadians spell colour as colour and flavour as flavour and 11/9 means September eleventh. There is no Canadian English. Our Englsh is not re-invented, we already have one, it is British English, the same one Austalians write and New Zealand and Hog Kong and Jamaica and India etc. I was trying to make it clear I consider pre-emtping of a language that is already here, in use due to the USA's notions of "Independence," to be a bogus and cynical action, orwellian....
I don't agree with Manifest Destiny. I want nothing to do with it.
Stay the fuck out, you are welcome to sell and buy, but take your bad ideas with you when you go back home with your bag of groceries..... I want only from your nation what I need and the rest? You can have it.

Continents look like the people that live / are there imho.

N.America looks like an hateful angry A**hole, and S.America looks like a little simple fella who's wondering "Hmm,this seems kinda odd, what's really going on?"

And Africa looks also like ...hmm something that somehow resembles human head kinda.. :shuffle: ;)

I guess that's just a consequence of being the first independent nation state on the American continent. And technically you can still call yourselves Americans, as can anyone else living in the Americas. I believe the correct term for a citizen of the United States is U.S. American.

EDIT: And yes, I'm aware that there were independent nations in the Americas before the Europeans got there, but I think you get the point.

No I don't think so, but.....
Is Swedish taught in any Finnish schools? Finns are fiercely independant, yet children watch Swedish tv and look at swedish magazines?
Doesn't that piss some people off?
    I don't know, I am asking....

I'll try to lighten you up within this matter. :p
In finnish schools sweden language is obligatory, allthought about 8-9% of people living in finland (s.c. finnswedes) speak swedish and mostly can also understand finnish language too.Nowdays finns are truely discussing the matter why the FUCK all finns have learn that language at all, since there's no use of it for finnish speaking finns. (1 $ to N.Korea's nu-clear devlopment center otw Biles)

No, or not many as I know and really know of finnish children watch swedish tv here, it's unavailable, allthought we have a 1 goverment produced swedish language tv channel, but for most of finns, sweden and swedish language speakers here are mostly collaborated in insulting and stupid jokes. Those jokes mostly consentrate in the thing that most of swedish men are gay, f.ex. in swedish army the men who go there, don't have to cut their hair, just to avoid the anxiety of the military to loose their beatiful curly hair.

Here's a pic of the 'special unit'

He and a couple of really ill-advised friends of his saved Canada from domination. Imagine 'Gentlemen' in stockings and breeches and pretty little jackets besieging Quebec with little more to eat than whiskeyand a few squirrels in the middle of a Canadien Winter .The Kentucky Riflemen could'nt find much to eat with those fancy rifles, only find a few squirels for Arnold and Schuyler's 'force.'

Bollocks. ;) The English in use in Canada today probably has as much in common with British English as Farsi. Yeah ok, there are many words that you spell the same as the Brits, but there are also many that you spell differently. And just like American English, Canadian English has given birth to new words, or changed the meaning of existing words.
Not to mention that to people not from the U.S. or Canada, the English spoken by Canadians is practically indistinguishable from that spoken by Minnesotans, for instance.

Anyway, I don't see why you're getting so upset about this. Languages change, and of course even languages that have common roots will eventually diverge more and more. It's completely natural.

Hitler knew all about language, words, and the uses of them and miss-uses of them and how that could be manipulated. So did Goebels. Churchill ranted about people pissing around with language. So did HGWells. Niether of which were saurbrauten gulping beer guzzling blackshirts nor Austrian fifth columnists.

    No offense taken.

Socrates died because the government had LIED to the people and they needed someone to blame.

Just as in EVERY GOVERNMENT before and after, they will LIE to preserve their interests and consolidate their power.

Yes, the man later known as Jesus Christ was condemned to death by the Roman governor because of the pressure of the local powers; the rabbinical council that perceived JS as a threat to their power base.

    My dear Jacob;

You need to smoke less pot and read more books, History books.

Stop wandering the tundra , staring at reindeer asshole.....

and not to worry, still no offense taken.... :D

Certainly governments were formed to serve the people. However absolute power corrupts absolutely and after a time the gov. powers go unchecked and the lying starts, the special interests take control.

Soon the owl worshipers and "secret clubs" take over. We then get New World Order, or National Socialism, the need for more "living room", Manifest Destiny, Imperialism and people like Stalin, Mao and Cecil Rhodes' version of "colonialism" ......

There are even special interest groups in Switzerland.....

No government is immune. It is the nature of government. It is the nature of Mankind.

    Ha ha ha........

.... and you figure Henry David Thoreau is not?

Going back to the original statement of "Why the US is full of BS".

    The answer is still:

The US is full of BS just as much as most governments.

The only real question is to what degree, relative to the citizens' individual freedoms and level of living.
