So the P-51 team must've received a telepathic Meredith message from the great wizard who worked secretly for the Allies & this is how the belly scoop which produced Meredith effect came to be? &then after the war, it was all explained. I see now.

& perhaps those mysterious 16.000 Italian torpedoes were teleported out of the German U-boat pens & this was one of the great allied war secrets as yet to be shown on the History channel.

I don't see how you can get additional thrust from a radiator.

You don't. Meredith didn't know the cause and effect of his observations.

You place the exhaust of the radiator- energized air where the boundary layer is beginning to detach from the plane. this fills the void and lowers the drag resulting in a higher speed.

(sort of the reverse of a "ram air" intake system)

Lots of people thought the hot air was some kind of jet thrust.

Some engineers said the proper channeling of the exhaust air, either combustion exhaust or radiator exhaust INCREASED the thrust, NOT CREATED thrust.

Like a good exhaust system will increase power by "tuning" each exhaust pulse to help extract the next pulse. This is very critical in 2 strokes. Lots of HP gains with the correct "expansion chamber".

Also read-up on "Comprex" supercharger-pressure wave supercharging, B&B in Switzerland did lots of research and Ferrari F-1 turbo engines had experimented with them. I believe they had something like 800+ Hp from a 1500cc twin turbo V-6 . turns-out they were easier to use on diesels of 3.0 liters. You have to design an intake and exhaust system very carefully in order to get the pulses in tune.

Maybe I can give you an example: Ever been in a hatch back sports car like a XKE Jag, 240Z, 2nd/3rd gen Camaro/Firebird or maybe a Lancia Fulvia Zagato? (ha ha ha, sorry).

Well if you get out on the freeway at say, 60 mph or so with all the windows closed and the A/C or heat on -fan blowing with outside air vent open so air is coming in the cabin. Then crack the hatchback open. (I know only of the Lancia Fulvia Zagato that has an electric opening rear hatch at speed.) Suddenly a huge increase in the air flow will be noted from the vents. you may even realize a slight change in power setting or speed increase. You have successfully decreased the drag of the car. by filling-in some of the boundary layer.
Check-out the GT-40 Mk II, "J" car. see those twin scoops? see the rear grilles? All for filling the boundary layer.

With the full time study of jet aircraft, understanding boundary layer control got understood more and more. Getting into the higher mach numbers it is essential to know and master.

    Quote,
    Some engineers said

he's almost vaguely near the ballpark, yet still hasn't supplied any actual engineers statements.

Why look up what doesn't exist? Do you own homework & provide data for your posits. Quit being lazy, don't try & push it off on others.

This is normal. In the US, "German" kids had to go through a lot of trouble. I was thinking it was over, but it will never end ;)
