Some of you know I am now restoring a 1960 GMC pickup, but need a ride untill that project "its gunna be a long time". Ive narrowed my choices between a 1985-1993 Chevy S-10 2wd 6cyl, Or a 1987-1993 Toyota Celica "GT". Or, If I wait, I can go to a auction and pick up a newer car or 2000 or newer S-10, but that requires waiting and luck. Let me know what you think and If you have any other suggestions. "God knows Id prefer a classic, but America is a horrible place when it comes to gass and insurance."
US sux when it comes to gas? Enlighten me, how much do you pay for a gallon of unleaded 95RON? 1 Gallon is 3.7879 liters. I filled up the car yesterday, 10.40SEK per liter. I pumped almost 50 liters = 50*10,4=520SEK That is = 13.21 Gallons for 520*0,14=72,8USD Which gives a price per gallon of: 72,8/13,21= 5,51USD. (according to Forex exchange, 1SEK is worth 0,14USD) Washington State... I checked <http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2002/07/04/143230.html?NEWS> and chose Seattle... "kinda near you" I hope. (otherwise you just got a useful link ) Lowest price the last 24hrs is (drumroll) 1,93. I rest my case. On the other hand, I pay 1460SEK a year for insurance on my car (old Mercedes 190E) That is only insurance that allows me to use my car, if I cause an accident, insurance company covers cost for the other guy, not for me... I have no idea what insurance cost in the US. But then again, on our petrol price, more than 50% is tax... According to Preem Sweden, 2004-10-26 the company gets 3,88SEK if the price is 10,55. Which gives a tax amount of 6,67 SEK per liter. My time is 03,41 right now, if I miscalculated... sry for that. Anyway, You should get a car that doesn't guzzle so much fuel. It's better for your wallet, the environment and... uuuh... your environmental conscience (how do you spell that??) So from your list it'd be the Toyota, even if I would like a classic myself... My friend's got a 1960 Dodge Matador, salmon and white. Thats a nice car! *tired
Damn you guys! Im 16! I cant afford A BMW or an Audi!....On a side note, "cheapest" gass is usually watered down or makes your car run ruff pluss is hard to find. I pay 2.06 for the cheapest in my area, which I dont use.........Get over yourself....
2.06, still half what I pay. "cheapest gas" around here aint watered, though. Still, get the car that gives you the best mileage, that way you can renovate your oldie sooner. GL with the car, anyway!
allsop, u sould buy a kind of mid 70's oldmobile as for me,citroen AMI 6 1965 is waiting a big lifting to go on the road again ps: pics not mine..ohh they're enormus!!
roger 5/5 ;-) trust me, i'll not test my machine like a foul jumping in the deep air from a building: many rolls, many little flights over rnw before ... and for those who care about me(oh darling!)i'll fly with a ground rescue system(roket para ).
An old VW Van... I already had one (built in 1978) but I did not have enough time to restaurate it, so had to get rid of it as the rust begun to eat it in a horryfying pace The picture below shows a restorated 1973 modell with a van body, mine was a 6-seat pickup and was green
