Wouldn't it be more true to say that cities were established as a place to sell crops? You're talking more of village societys than cities.

The headlight wipers really bug you and allsop, right? I really fail to understand why? Actually they are not luxury thing, just there to wipe the headlights clean every once and awhile. If not wipers, most european cars do have washers anyway. And furthermore, you're talking about more expensive cars, and not "normal" models....

Now this you have to proof. I would really, really like you to make a video, where you wash your cars headlights while doing 60Mph behind an eighteen wheeler. Or if that's impossible, we could arrange a situation where you wash my cars headlights while I'm driving behind a truck. I'll drive if you do the washing.

Does your statement mean that US based people can wash their cars headlights while driving? Isn't that dangerous?

And again you're wrong (no offence). US cars, if we're talking about basic models, do have more electrical devices than their european counterparts.
SUV, as a trend, started in USA. And SUV's here are mostly japanese or german. They are not (at least yet), that popular in Europe. Probably for the fact that we pay more from gas that you guys. AFAIK most popular car type in Europe is now a mid-size diesel.

You might think why American cars are not equipped with 2,0L turbodiesel, since they offer better torque and fuel economy than usual 1,6-2,5L gasoline using engines. Why does the oh-so-wise Us people use V8's that are not, by far, the most efficient (in fuel economy) engines? Maybe it's a "national feature"?

The guy above who screamed shrilly, "neatherthall, hahahah, Neanderthall.... LOOOOOOOL..."
I don't think that is anything like what sqirl was trying to portray when he, well, potrayed civilization.
Neanderthal had a mental block, he didn't do agriculture. See, agriculture never clicked in the Neanderthal squatting places. Hunter/gatherers. No cities or for that matter towns or villages. No marketplace.

Ok Biles. Did the Cro-Magnon man have marketplaces? Cities? Towns? No. You'll probably need several thousand years till you find one.

I'm just saying that 'ancient humans' points more to ape-like men instead of something like ancient Egyptians for example.

And barbarians? I think they're slightly too new to fight 'ancient humans'. People got together to save their asses from bears and lions, not 'barbarians'. And this doesn't mean they were not a civilisation, even back then.

A modern carrier may seem huge, but if you were crammed into the confined spaces of one of those together with 5,000 other sailors / marines / aviators working basically around the clock and often at sea for 6 months or longer, I'm sure you'd appreciate those little luxuries.

@redant: true, but since those little luxuries the crew is "perfectly capable of providing for" themselves too, those little luxuries must be leftist/europian/communist.

    :D

(I wonder what they do at Russian ACC...Do russians have a floating holiday center?)

Airfax, you took my example literally when it was intended to be taken metaphorically. I was not talking about the actual cars of Europe and the U.S. I was talking about how a car's features are much like a government's features.

The U.S., for the most part, has only the bare essentials.

European governments tend to have 'all the bells and whistles.'

Among automobiles, SUVs are the worst when it comes to efficiency and cost - they are oversized and loaded with features. European governments are also oversized and loaded with features, which explains why they are inefficient and expensive. This is why European governments are the 'SUVs' among governments, so to speak.

Then why didn't you just say so? Why to go "metaphorical" without smileys, or a mention "/metaphorical"? Not all of us can different a metaphorical english from "actually ment" english.

    Besides, your metaphor sucked.
Is the SUV a socialist car? Or enormous goverment an american way?

lol, as far as I've seen socialist cars - Lada, Moskvitch, etc. (and ive seen LOTS!) they are definitely no frills cars! ;)

Thats why I like them so very much! Headlight wipers are plain stupid! (wow, once i agree with squirl and allsop ;)) Its the epitome of decadence! A toughened proletariat doesnt need headlight wipers!
